Dercums disease, or adiposis dolorosa, is a rare disorder consisting of multiple, painful lipomas subcutaneously distributed mainly on the trunk and extremities [1]. Applicants often feel overwhelmed and alone when they are trying to get the benefits that they need to pay for housing and other basic necessities. Dementia can occur at an accelerated rate in people who have Dercums disease. However, frequent surgeries can risk health complications, and less extreme methods of treatment are encouraged.
